Two Injured in Bergen House Explosion

BERGEN, WI (Ben Caxton) — A Saturday afternoon house explosion has injured two people in Bergen. Vernon County Sheriff John Spears said the explosion occurred around 1:30 PM at a rural Stoddard residence located on Pine Street in the Pleasant Valley subdivision. Stoddard-Bergen Fire & First Responders and the Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and found extensive damage to the residence. The two people home at the time suffered non-life threatening injuries and both were transported to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse by ambulance. The incident remains under investigation but authorities believe the explosion was the result of a propane leak from a dryer in the basement. Assisting at the scene were the Shelby, Coon Valley, and Genoa Fire Departments, and Tri-State Ambulance.
