Prairie du Chien Extends School Year into June

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, WI (Ben Caxton) — This winter’s record snows across Wisconsin are going to mean a late dismissal for Prairie du Chien School’s. At Monday night’s meeting of the Prairie du Chien School Board, members voted unanimously to extend the 2018-2019 school year into June to make up for time lost to snow days. So far this season the district has lost the equivalent of nine days worth of instructional time to the inclement weather. Other districts around the state have been attempting to make up the difference to meet the state’s minimum by lengthening school days or shortening holiday and spring breaks.
