Waterfront Hotel Project Receives $250,000 Boost

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, WI (Ben Caxton) — State and City officials gathered in the cold in Prairie du Chien Thursday afternoon to announce a major boost for a local project. The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation has awarded a $250,000 Community Development Investment Grant to the city to help fund the new Waterfront Hotel. The 57-room $3.8 million project being built by Prairie du Chien natives Brian and Brittany Nichols who were on-hand to provide a status update on the construction work. The newly constructed hotel is located on the banks of the Mississippi River adjacent to the main highway and is expected to generate 12 new jobs and over $5 million in revenue over the next five years. The Waterfront Hotel is planning on opening its doors to guests by late summer.
