Check Vaccinations Before Spring Break Vacations

MADISON, WI (Ben Caxton) — As your family gets ready for a spring break vacation, make sure to get your vaccinations checked. This is especially important as measles outbreaks continue across the country. State Immunization Coordinator Stephanie Schauer says the reason getting a measles vaccination is so important is because the virus spreads extremely quickly. “It’s so contagious that if one person is infected, 9 out of 10 people around him or her will also get sick from the virus if they’re not protected.” One in four people who catch the measles will be hospitalized, some with serious symptoms.
