Road Detour Signage Going Up in Lancaster

LANCASTER, WI (Ben Caxton) — Signs that road construction is just around the corner in Lancaster are everywhere. Literally. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has been busy this week posting new road signage for detours that will guide motorists through town as construction along U.S. 61 starts next Monday. The $6.1 million, three-month project will occur in phases from West Cherry Street north to City Limits Street. It will include the streets that flank the Grant County Courthouse. U.S. 61 traffic will be detoured along Wisconsin 129 and Wisconsin 35, and Wisconsin 81 traffic will be detoured along Walnut Street. To keep traffic flowing along West Walnut Street, the stop signs on West Walnut were removed and now are installed on the South Jefferson Street side of the intersection.
