Commerce Department Awards Viroqua $2.6m

VIROQUA, WI (Ben Caxton) — Flooding at Viroqua businesses may soon be a thing of the past. The Commerce Department has announced it is giving the city a $2.6 million grant to update critical water infrastructure needed to protect local businesses from flooding. In a press release, Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross said that the Trump Administration recognizes the challenges American communities face following natural disasters and praised planning efforts by Viroqua leaders saying the project will “help the local business community remain strong through flooding and other natural disasters that impact the region.” The project is expected to involve 61 jobs and lead to an additional $8.4 million in private investment.
