Guttenberg Is 2019 River Town Of the Year

GUTTENBERG, IA (Ben Caxton) — Guttenberg is 2019 River Town of the Year. The nonprofit Iowa Rivers Revival group presented city officials with the award at a reception last week. The award recognizes a community for “outstanding efforts to reclaim riverfronts as anchors for economic development, recreation, and good ecological practices.” The group’s executive director, Molly Hanson cited a combination of unique partnerships for watershed issues, Lock and Dam No. 10, and the recreation and tourism opportunities on and around the river that she said made Guttenberg an excellent candidate for the award.
