Gay Dating App Leads to Stalking Charges in Lancaster

LANCASTER, WI (Ben Caxton) — The gay hookup app “Grindr” has another stalking charge to its credit, this time in connection with a Lancaster man. According to court documents filed in Grant County Circuit Court 20-year-old, Ryan McNamara stalked the married Grant County man and threatened to tell family members he was using a gay dating app. Prosecutors say police were contacted on October 26th by the victim who told them he was contacted on the app by a user named “The Finder” who tried to blackmail him by saying that if he didn’t pay him money he would reveal his secret. The threats continued for three days, and when the man didn’t pay a Facebook page belonging to McNamara sent messages and screenshots from the app to the man’s wife and children.
