MADISON, WI (Ben Caxton) — The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection on Thursday certified the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin 2019 Board of Directors election results. Taking office on July 1st representing southwest Wisconsin will be Mary Cook in Adams, Juneau and Monroe counties for District 15, and Gail Klinkner for District 21’s Crawford and Vernon counties. DFW directors guide the organization’s finances, formulate and set its policies and long-range business plan, and maintain its mission – to help grow demand for Wisconsin milk by providing programs that enhance the competitiveness of the Wisconsin dairy industry. This year’s election saw 14 certified candidates running for eight board member positions. Of the 2,659 dairy producers living in the election districts, per DATCP records, 16.8% returned ballots. That is an increase in election return over the previous year. Election voting closed May 24.
