BOSCOBEL, WI (Ben Caxton) — The Wisconsin State Building Commission this week approved spending $8.9 million on construction of a new building at the state prison in Boscobel. The “inmates programs building” would accommodate the recreational and educational needs of the more than 400 prisoners at what is now called the “Wisconsin Secure Program Facility”, formerly “Supermax”. Plans call for an18,270-square-foot space with a gym, exercise area, classrooms, a cosmetology education space, a hobby/music room, a chapel, and offices. Construction is expected to begin next spring and take about a year to complete.
