ONTARIO, WI (Ben Caxton) — A La Farge woman spent hours on a riverbank in Wild Cat State Park calling for help over the weekend. 19-year-old kayaker Tierra Decker was with a large group before her kayak got away from her. She was left behind and stranded for more than three hours. She was finally rescued when a Department of Natural Resources Warden heard her cries around 6:30 PM Friday evening. DNR staff and park services found Decker riverbank downstream from the launch. Decker was led out through the woods by first responders to State Highway 33, where she was examined by medical staff. The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
