Spooked Horses Cause Richland Center Buggy Crash

RICHLAND CENTER, WI (Ben Caxton) — Spooked horses apparently were the cause of a crash of an Amish buggy near Richland Center Friday morning. Callers to 9-1-1 initially reported a collision between the buggy and a semi with injuries. But when deputies arrived on the scene they determined that no crash had occurred. Instead, they say that an Amish family was traveling along the shoulder of Highway 14 when a semi pulled on to the road from a gravel drive ahead of the buggy. That spooked the horse pulling the buggy, which then ran into a ditch and overturned. Two adults and three children were in the buggy at the time of the incident. Two juveniles suffered minor injuries, were treated at the scene by Viola EMS and released.
