Drone Brought in to Search Lake Winona

WINONA, MN (Ben Caxton) — Authorities are taking no chances in searching Lake Winona for a possibly missing swimmer. The Winona County Sheriff’s Office brought in a drone to help in a second day of operations despite have no evidence other than a witness report that someone may have become distressed while swimming and gone under the water Monday morning. A woman on a bike path said she saw a man swimming with his arms in the air. She turned away for a moment and when she looked back, there was no one to be seen. Winona County Sheriff Ron Ganrude said the search may be called off later today if nothing turns up.
