Grant County Law Enforcement Wants to Get Dunked

LANCASTER, WI (Ben Caxton) — Grant County Law Enforcement wants you to get them wet for charity. The Sheriff’s Department, and Lancaster Police and Fire Departments have set up a dunk tank for the Grant County Fair this weekend and will use the proceeds to help students in need at area schools. Lancaster Police Chief Deb Reukauf says a special fund was started several years ago and every year money is donated anonymously and local law enforcement wanted to help increase the funds available. Lancaster High School Guidance Counselor Tom Hughey also helps with the fund. When Hughey saw that one student last year had only one pair, an just a few shirts, money raised from the dunk tank helped him buy more clothes for the student. Another had no money to pay for a copy of her birth certificate that she needed, and the fund stepped in to assist. Lancaster Police Officers will be in the dunk tank on Sunday the 18th, while Grant County Sheriff’s deputies and Lancaster firefighters will be manning the dunk tank on Saturday the 17th. The Grant County Fair runs August 14th through the 18th at the fairgrounds in Lancaster.
