La Crosse Americorps Receives $279k in Funding

LA CROSSE, WI (Ben Caxton) — Serve Wisconsin this week made $279,090 in funding available to the La Crosse County AmeriCorps program. The money is part of over $7 million in AmeriCorps money the group received from the federal agency responsible for national service programs. The La Crosse program will see 42 AmeriCorps members complete high priority conservation projects across the state of Wisconsin over the coming months. After completing a full term of service, AmeriCorps members receive an award of approximately $6,000 that they can use to pay for college or to pay off student loans.
