Man Arrested in Death Of 2-Month-Old Infant

MELROSE, WI (Ben Caxton) — A Jackson County man has been arrested on reckless homicide charges in the death of his infant daughter. The Sheriff’s office reports they received a 9-1-1 call shortly before 6:30 AM last Wednesday from a mother that had found her infant daughter dead. When first responders arrived at the home on 2nd Street in Melrose, they found a deceased two-month-old baby-girl. A forensic autopsy was conducted, several items were collected, and several interviews were conducted during the investigation. On Tuesday deputies arrested the infant’s father, 32-year-old Armas Cravins II for 2nd Degree Reckless Homicide, Neglecting a Child Resulting in the Child’s Death, and 3 counts of Neglecting a Child. Cravins is currently being held in the Jackson Co. Jail awaiting his first court appearance.
