Tick Borne Illnesses Spread in Northern Wisconsin County

BAYFIELD COUNTY, WI (Ben Caxton) — A northern Wisconsin county is dealing with above-average rates of Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses. `Sara Wartman is Director of Public Health in Bayfield County [wrnbayfieldticks01] Lyme disease strikes Bayfield County residents at a rate more than two-and-a-half times higher than the statewide average. Wartman’s agency will again distribute “tick kits” next spring [wrnbayfieldticks02] Other tick-borne illnesses, like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, are also beginning to show up in Wisconsin.`
