Dairy Goat Industry in the Spotlight at Southwest Tech

FENNIMORE, WI (Ben Caxton) — Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore, Wisconsin, in partnership with the Wisconsin Dairy Goat Association, will be hosting the annual Dairy Goat Academy on November 1st and 2nd. The two-day event will include dairy goat specific programming, as well as breakout sessions, a vendor fair, expert presenters and a sale, among other highlights. There will also be a trade show and plenty of opportunities to network with industry professionals. Clare Heberlein, dairy goat herd management coordinator/instructor at Southwest Tech says Wisconsin leads the nation for dairy goat production, with the majority of milking goats located “right here in southwest Wisconsin.” This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Melissa O’Rourke, farm management specialist at Iowa State Extension discussing risk management. Attendees will also be offered a tour of the Nelson Horst family farm.
