RICHLAND CENTER, WI (Ben Caxton) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Dept. reported Monday that the body of a missing Orion Township woman has been located. 79-year-old Gail Stone of rural Muscoda had been the subject of a missing persons search since early Friday afternoon when a vehicle registered to Stone was located in a wooded area off Harry’s Lane in Orion Township by a caretaker of the property who notified authorities. A deputy who traveled to Stone’s home at the time could not locate anyone there and additional efforts to find Stone were unsuccessful. On Saturday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Dept was notified that the owner of the vehicle suffered from Alzheimer’s and had not been seen since Tuesday afternoon. On Sunday a large scale search involving 35 people was organized and within 45 minutes Gail Stone was located in a ravine in the southern part of the property. A Richland County Coroner pronounced her dead at the scene.
