Sparta Man Arrested After Halloween Traffic Stop

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, WI (Ben Caxton) — A Halloween afternoon traffic stop in Prairie du Chien led to an arrest on drug charges for a Sparta man. Prairie du Chien Police say their K-9 unit made a traffic stop for a traffic violation in the 400 block of South Marquette Road around 2:00 PM Thursday. During the course of the traffic stop K-9 Rico indicated the presence of controlled substances inside the car. A subsequent search turned up heroin, methamphetamine, and other drug paraphernalia. Of the seven people inside the car at the time police eventually determined that the person who possessed the drugs was 30-year-old Philip Lockhart of Sparta. Lockhart was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail where he is being charged for possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, and multiple charges of felony bail jumping.
