Woman Dies from Injuries Suffered in November 1st Crash

GRANT COUNTY, WI (Ben Caxton) — 60-year-old Julie Kuenster of Cassville has died as a result of injuries suffered in a traffic accident a week ago in Grant County. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says that around 7:30 AM on November 1st deputies were dispatched to a report of a one-vehicle crash on Highway 81 near Rattlesnake Road in Beetown. An investigation at the scene discovered that Kuenster, who was driving east on Highway 81, had lost control of her vehicle when it left the roadway, traveled onto the gravel shoulder, then on the south side of the roadway. Kuenster then overcorrected spinning the car across the highway hitting the end of a guardrail. That impact sent the car headfirst into a rock wall embankment. Kuenster was wearing her seatbelt and airbags were deployed but she was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Bloomington Fire Department using the “Jaws of Life”. Kuenster was transported to Grant Regional Health Center with life-threatening injuries and later airlifted UW Hospitals in Madison where she died Friday from her injuries. Kuenster becomes the 10th person killed in nine fatal crashes in Grant County for 2019.
