Students Help Light Richland Center Park for Christmas

RICHLAND CENTER, WI (Ben Caxton) — Billed as “The region’s most spectacular light display,” the Rotary Lights in the Park event in Richland Center, Wisconsin is getting some help from students in the Electrical Power Distribution program at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore. The display begins at Krouskop Park on Thanksgiving Eve and runs through New Year’s Eve and is sponsored by the Rotary Foundation of Richland County. This year, 44 students assisted the Richland Center Electric Utility in a number of activities in preparation for the popular event from stringing electrical wire from the trees and burying cables in the ground to placing LED lights on tree limbs. The students spent two full days at the park working alongside the Richland Center crew October 31st, and November 1st. There is no charge to visit the display, however, donations of money and food are accepted. All donations are given to the Richland Community Food Pantry in Richland Center. Last year, more than $7,000 and 10,000 items were donated to the pantry.
