City Board Offers County $612,00 for Blackhawk Junction Mall

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, WI (Ben Caxton) — The Prairie du Chien Development Authority has made a verbal offer to Crawford County to bu the shuttered Blackhawk Junction Mall for $612,000 – an amount they say would pay 100% of outstanding taxes, and for costs the county has incurred to clean up the property. The 9-acre property is valued at over $3.3 million and was seized for back-taxes and interest last May which now total nearly $600,000. At least one county supervisor said he would vote “no” on any sale to the city until Prairie du Chien pays over $330,000 he says they owe the county for the new joint dispatch center and 911 dispatch services.
