Southwest Tech Campus Open Again After Gas Leak

FENNIMORE, WI (Ben Caxton) — Southwest Wisconsin Technical College is back open for business after a gas main break Wednesday forced evacuation of the campus on Bronson Boulevard in Fennimore. The break was reported shortly after 10:00 AM near the campus’ west parking lot, where utility crews were installing fiber optic cable. With assistance from the Fennimore Fire Department the college evacuated buildings one after the other and canceled all classes through Wednesday night. College officials think up to 1500 people may have been affected by the evacuations. The fire department issued the all-clear about an hour and a half later at 11:30 AM.
