Competency Hearing Ordered for Milwaukee Acid Attacker

MILWAUKEE, WI (Ben Caxton) — A competency evaluation has been ordered for the man charged in a hate crime acid attack in Milwaukee. `61-year-old Clifton Blackwell appeared in court Friday morning for what was scheduled to be a preliminary examination, but his attorney had questions about his ability to assist in his own defense. A Court Commissioner ordered the competency evaluation. Blackwell is charged in the November 1st attack on 42-year-old Mahud Villalaz, a Peruvian born U-S citizen. `
