FRANKLIN, WI (Ben Caxton) — A single-vehicle crash occurred Sunday morning around 6:45 AM in the town of Franklin. 50-year-old Phillip Townsend of Readstown was operating a full-size, heavy-duty pickup truck, southbound, on State Highway 27, just south of Zitzner Road when he lost control while headed uphill and negotiating a curve to the left. The truck crossed the highway and struck a rock embankment, head-on, along the left side of the roadway. Deputies say the temperature was close to the freezing level and frost had formed on the shaded section of roadway. Townsend was wearing a seatbelt and the vehicle airbags deployed. He sustained possible injuries but refused transport.
