Burn off That Turkey Pie with a Nature Walk in Elkader

ELKADER, WI (Ben Caxton) — If you’re still feeling stuffed from Thanksgiving dinner and have no idea where you’ll find room to pack on the pounds for all the Christmas Goodies to come, the Osborne Nature Center and Park in Elkader may have an answer for you. The park, located five miles south of Elkader on Iowa 13, is holding its annual holiday walk next Thursday, December 5, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Walks will start every 15 minutes and last about 30 minutes. Hikers are warned to be alert for a “wooly mammoth” rumored to be roaming the park along with other colorful characters they will meet along the way. Homemade cookies, cocoa and Christmas music, performed by Central High School’s Madrigal Choir, will be offered after the walk. The event is free, but a donation of bird feed from attendees is requested.
