Sparta Hiring First Woman Chief Of Police

SPARTA, WI (Ben Caxton) — Sparta is hiring its first-ever female chief of police. The Police and Fire Commission announced it has approved Deputy Chief Emilee Nottestad to be elevated to the role of top cop in town. The recommendation will now have to be approved by the city’s Finance Committee and City Council. Nottestad will be taking over from retiring chief Dave Kuderer. She joined the Sparta force as a lieutenant in 2015.
