Crawford County Sells Blackhawk Junction Mall

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, WI (Ben Caxton) — Crawford County will have an extra $612,000 in the bank soon. The county has agreed to sell Blackhawk Junction Mall to the Prairie du Chien Redevelopment Authority on behalf of the City of Prairie du Chien effective in New Year’s Day. The nine-acre site on Blackhawk Avenue has a listed value of $1.8 million dollars but has stood mostly empty since the county foreclosed due to delinquent property taxes. The sale is expected to net the county nearly a quarter of a million dollars in “profit”.

It will be good to see something return to Blackhawk Junction Mall. Those who remember it being a bustling business area have waited a long time to see it return to something positive. Thank you to all who have worked diligently making this happen!
