False Rumors Spread About School Threat from Prairie Student

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, WI (Ben Caxton) — Concerns Thursday and Friday about a possible threat to Prairie du Chien schools from a high school student turned out to be false rumors that the school said in a letter to parents was “fueled by students, parents and community members spreading it on social media.” The school district had considered canceling classes but eventually decided to hold school as usual when a police investigation determined that the student accused of being a threat was actually the victim of “categorically false and fabricated” rumors.
