Woman Seriously Injured After Struck by Drunk Driver

TOMAH, WI (Ben Caxton) — A 73-year-old woman is in the hospital with what are described as “life-threatening” injuries after being struck by a susp[ected drunk driver in Tomah. Garrene Peaslee of Oakland was found laying the front yard of a home on State Highway 21 near Ensign Road shortly after 2:30 AM Monday morning and was airlifted to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse for treatment. Peaslee had parked on the shoulder of the road to get out to deliver a newspaper. The Wisconsin State Patrol has arrested 36-year-old Charles Davis Jr. of Tomah for operating while intoxicated and causing a crash. In court on Monday he was given a $10,000 signature bond and released. His initial appearance is scheduled for January 6th.
