Merrill City Council Approves 2nd Amendment Sanctuary Resolution

MERRILL, WI (Ben Caxton) — Merrill is the first city in Wisconsin to declare itself a “2nd Amendment sanctuary.” Alderman Steve Osness drafted a resolution which was passed on a 6-2 vote of the city council Tuesday night [wrnsanctuary1] Florence County declared itself a second Amendment sanctuary in November. Brown County supervisors are considering a similar resolution, although unlike the versions in Merrill and Florence County, it will not try to encourage law enforcement to ignore future gun legislation.
