Viroqua Cancer Telethon Kicks off with Lutefisk

VIROQUA, WI (Ben Caxton) — The Viroqua Eagles 45th annual Cancer telethon began on Wednesday with the lutefisk dinner featuring that Norwegian codfish which is enjoyed by hundreds. Money raised during the annual dinner goes toward the fight against Cancer. Chief Cook Don Yanske has been preparing lutefisk for the Eagles Club for over 10 years. [YANSKE4] Yanske says he knows the fish is ready to be served. [YANSKE6] This year’s dinner served over 200 persons on Wednesday. The telethon continues with the pledge call-in show which is broadcast on Vernon Communications cable channel 14. On Sunday, the Eagles host a lumberjack breakfast from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. All proceeds to Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse for further cancer research. To date, over 600,000 thousand dollars have been donated for research by the club over the last 45 years.
