LANCASTER, WI (Ben Caxton) — The City of Lancaster will be getting a new hotel. The Lancaster Common Council Monday night unanimously approved a developer’s agreement with Lancaster Hotel Development L L C which plans to build a Sleep Inn and Suites Hotel on the south side of the city. Ground will be broken on the new $5 million, 54-bed hotel in April, with completion anticipated by the Spring of 2021. It will also have 500-feet of meeting space, an indoor swimming pool and a hot tub. The hotel is expected to employ about 20, full and part-time employees. The city has agreed to create a Tax Increment Finance District to aid in the development. Property taxes collected in the TIF District will repay the developers for their costs associated with utility extensions, signage, stormwater improvements, site grading, and other improvements. The city’s costs will be covered by property taxes received from the new hotel. Lancaster currently has two other hotels, the Welcomeinn and thePine Grove Motel.
