MUSCODA, WI (Ben Caxton) — “Natural Areas” will be the topic of an upcoming meeting of the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway Board in Muscoda. Along with conducting regular monthly business for permit requests, committee reports, and public comment, there will be a guest speaker. Nate Fayram, a Department of Natural Resources ecologist, will discuss State Natural Areas in the Riverway. Currently, there are over 20 SNAs in the Riverway including Avoca Prairie in Iowa County, Orion Mussel Bed in Richland County, Blue River Sand Barrens in Grant County and many others. Fayram will highlight ongoing activities as well as new projects planned for the coming year. The meeting will get underway with Fayram’s presentation at 5:00 PM at the Kratochwill Memorial Building on North Wisconsin Avenue next Thursday, February 13th.
