BEETOWN, WI (Ben Caxton) — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 81 near Laufenberg Lane in the Township of Beetown Saturday morning shortly after 11:30 AM. 41-year-old Christopher Cooleyof rural Cassville was traveling westbound in his 2019 GMC Sierra. At the same time 26-year-old Kelsey Borcherding of Fennimore driving eastbound in her 2000 Pontiac Montana. Both vehicles were negotiating a sharp curve on a hill. Borcherding crossed the double yellow center line and struck the front driver’s side of Cooley’s vehicle with the front driver’s side of her vehicle. Cooley’s vehicle careened out of control, left the roadway on the north side of the road, overturned, and came to rest on its driver’s side. The vehicle was hanging off of a 100-foot embankment over a small creek below held by just a few small trees. The Borcherding vehicle continued eastbound after the crash and came to rest in the south ditch. Both vehicles sustained heavy front end and driver’s side damages. Borcherding and the three children in the vehicle were transported to Grant Regional Health Center for non-life threatening injuries. Cooley was transported via private vehicle to Grant Regional Health Center for non-life threatening injuries as well.
