Clayton County Deerhunters Discover 6 Deer with CWD

ELKADER, IA (Ben Caxton) — Chronic Wasting Disease is on the march across Iowa’s deer population. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources on Tuesday said at least six deer with chronic wasting disease were discovered near Elkader during the recent hunting season. Fayette and Winneshiek counties reported their first-ever cases of infected deer this year. Previously cases had been reported in Allamakee, Clayton, and Dubuque counties in northeastern Iowa.
