Former Senator Kapanke Wants His Job Back

LA CROSSE, WI (Ben Caxton) — A former Wisconsin State Senator wants his old job back. La Crosse businessman Dan Kapanke announced Wednesday that he’ll be a candidate in the 32nd Senate District which includes all of La Crosse and Crawford counties, most of Vernon and a portion of Monroe county. Kapanke held the seat for six years after first being elected in 2004. But he was defeated in 2016 by the Democratic Senate minority leader Jennifer Shilling by a total of just 56 votes. Kapanke was born in Coon Valley and together with his wife Ruth own the La Crosse Loggers baseball team. He is a graduate of Onalaska Luther High School and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in political science and economics and a masters of education in professional development.
