New Charges from December Car Crash in Marquette

MARQUETTE, IA (Ben Caxton) — New charges have been filed in an incident last December 23 where a car fleeing police in Prairie du Chien headed across the river and crashed into a chain-link fence on Bloody Run Road in Marquette. The vehicle, being driven by Thomas Wiemerslage Jr of McGregor was severely damaged and Wiemerslage was transported to Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien with injuries. During the investigation, statements were made which lead to believe Wiemerslage was under the influence of a controlled substance. A search warrant to obtain a specimen of Wiemerslage’s blood was submitted and approved. Police now say that analysis came back last week registering positive for amphetamines and methamphetamine. Wiemerslage is now being charged with eluding causing injury, OWI 2nd offense, and driving with a revoked license and was also cited for striking fixtures upon a highway, failure to maintain control, reckless driving, and failure to provide proof of financial liability in an accident.
