K9 Alerts to Drugs in Tuesday Prairie Traffic Stop

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, WI (Ben Caxton) — A Prairie du Chien K9 unit alerted officers to drugs in a vehicle stopped for traffic violations in town early Tuesday evening. Police say they pulled a car over belonging to 32-year-old Ashley Starkey of Boscobel around 5:45 PM near the intersection of East Washington and North Marquette Road. During the traffic stop, Prairie du Chien Police’s K-9 Rico indicated to the presence of one or more controlled substances from within the vehicle. Starkey was found to be in possession of 41.1 grams of methamphetamine and was arrested and taken to the Crawford County Jail and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver.
