Thief Steals Thousands from Prairie Cabela’s Store Monday

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, WI (Ben Caxton) — Prairie du Chien Police are reporting thousands of dollars of merchandise was stolen from the local Cabella’s store on Monday. Reports say officers were called to the store before noon and were told that a male customer had walked off with several boat sonar units to a car waiting under the store’s drive-up canopy and fled. Surveillance video showed the car, a white Chrysler Sebring with damage to the hood, a white Chrysler Sebring with damage to the hood, had Iowa plates on the back and a Wisconsin Brewer’s vanity plate on the front. Police believe they have a suspect, who also may be involved in other area burglaries and are asking for the public’s help from anyone who may have home security video from the Frederick Street area between 10:35 AM and 11:00 AM on March 2.
