Fund Raising Campaign Launched for Prairie Dog Park

PRAIRIE DU CHIN, WI (Ben Caxton) — Prairie du Chien needs a dog park. And supporters of the idea need money to make it a reality. So, a new fund-raising effort has been launched to make the dream a reality. The city has already approved a location, a nearly 2-acre property off Lockwood Street from the Highway 18 Bypass. City Parks and Rec Director Mike Ulrich says really all that’s need to open the new park is fencing. Other amenities can be added later. The cost for the fencing and installation is estimated at around $30,000. While the city is actively seeking a grant for the cost, donations can be made by anyone wishing to support the canines by calling 326-7207, or by just sending a check in the mail to “Prairie du Chien Dog Park” at City Hall, 214 E. Blackhawk Avenue.
