Drinking on the Job Gets Point Police Chief Two-week Suspension

STEVENS POINT, WI (Ben Caxton) — We now know why the Chief of Police in Stevens Point was put on leave earlier this month. `The city’s police and fire commission issued a statement Monday saying Marty Skibba has been suspended without pay for fifteen days after an investigation revealed he consumed alcohol during his regular workday and had open containers of alcohol in his car. Commissioners say he has been referred to counseling, and he will not return to work until he has been deemed mentally fit. Skibba says the recent death of his parents and other personal issues had hit him hard, and he recognizes the decision was a poor one.`
