JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — April, is Confederate Heritage Month in Mississippi. That thanks to an undated proclamation from Governor Tate Reeves, following in the footsteps of both his Republican and Democrat predecessors. On a Facebook post, the Mississippi chapter of Sons of Confederate Veterans wrote “God bless the Confederate Soldier. Many of whom are buried in unmarked and unknown mass graves throughout the South” the group said in the post. “May he, or his sacrifices, never be forgotten.” The state’s only African American congressman. U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson tweeted the move was “unnecessary”.
