LA CROSSE, WI (Ben Caxton) — Viterbo University in La Crosse is the latest to announce it will open residence halls to medical workers next week. `Viterbo just finished its second week of online classes, and the campus is mostly empty with students back home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The vice president of student affairs says the university got a request last week from three organizations to house health care workers and first responders. Rick Trietely says Viterbo will open two floors of Bonaventure Residence Hall on Tuesday. As many as six floors could be opened if necessary. ` UW Madison is also making a dorm available to health care workers who don’t want to run the risk of infecting their families with COVID-19.
