Possible Second Coronavirus Overflow Facility in Madison

MADISON, WI (Ben Caxton) — The Army Corps of Engineers is preparing the large Exposition Center at State Fair Park in West Allis to handle hundreds of patients if Milwaukee area hospitals run out of beds. On Sunday Governor Tony Evers announced a second overflow center could open at the Alliant Energy Center, should Madison area hospital also run out of space. The state filed an application with FEMA to begin developing the overflow facility in Madison. Once approved, the Army Corp of Engineers will sign contracts to begin the work.
