Dwd Hiring 200 More Workers to Process Claims

MADISON, WI (Ben Caxton) — The state Department of Workforce Development is hiring 200 people to help process record unemployment claims. `A spokesperson says the D-W-D handled just over four million claims last week. The unprecedented numbers are being driven by the coronavirus pandemic. D-W-D has already added people to its call centers by accessing workers from other divisions in the same agency. There were originally 57 people working in the call center. That’s now up to almost 100.
