Flash Flood Warning for Dubuque County IA and 2 More

QUAD CITIES IA, QUAD CITIES IA/IL (503 PM CDT Thu Jul 9 2020) — The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Northern Jo Daviess County in northwestern Illinois North central Jackson County in east central Iowa Dubuque County in northeastern Iowa until 1100 PM CDT. At 501 PM CDT, law enforcement reported numerous roads covered in water across the city of Dubuque. Flash flooding is already occurring! Do not drive into flooded roadways! HAZARD: Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding. SOURCE: Law enforcement. Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flooding include Dubuque, Galena, Asbury, Cascade, Epworth, East Dubuque, Farley, Peosta, Elizabeth, Woodbine, Scales Mound, Holy Cross, Apple River, La Motte, Menominee, Rickardsville, Sherrill, Council Hill, St. Donatus and Centralia. Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
