At approximately 8:20 a.m. The county sheriff was assisted at the scene of a crash in the 100 block of East Street in the town of Potosí

County Grant. (Ben Caxton)—at approximately 8:20 AM Don Blevins, age 49 of Platteville, was operating a 2006 Freightliner garbage truck owned by Fahtery Inc.

Blevins parked the truck facing West in the 100 block of East Street in the Village of Potosi. Blevins activated the amber emergency lights and exited the truck to load.

While Blevins was working outside of the truck Kristin Kammes, age 19 of Potosi, was traveling East on East Street in her 2011 Ford Fusion.

Kammes took her eyes off of the roadway to look for an object in her vehicle. Kammes did not see the truck parked and crashed into it.

Kammes was wearing her safety belt and air bags deployed in her vehicle.

Kammes was treated on scene by Potosi EMS and was not transported. Blevins who was out of the truck working was not injured in the crash. The Grant

County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by The Village of Potosi/Tennyson, Potosi Fire Department, Potosi EMS, Donnie’s Tire and
Tow, Dickeyville, and Guys Towing, Kieler. This incident remains under investigation.
