Vernon County Sheriff John Spears reports a one vehicle accident that occurred on State Highway 27 approximately one tenth of a mile south of Paulson Road in the Town of Christiana approximately 5:35 A.M on Sunday. The sheriff’s department says Austin A. Hooker age 17 of Cashton was northbound on State Highway 27. Austin lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve. The vehicle crossed the center line and traveled into the south bound ditch striking a mailbox. The vehicle then came back onto the roadway and overturned several times before coming to rest in the south bound ditch. Airbags were deployed on the vehicle. Austin received injuries in the accident and was transported by Tri-State Ambulance to Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse.

Assisting at the scene were the Westby Fire Department and First Responders and Tri State Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
